Motorbiking

"Biker" for me usually means motorbiking, though I also have a couple of mountain-bikes... see Trail Bike

My current motorbikes are a Honda CBR600RR ABS 2017 and a Kawasaki Ninja Z250SL.

Previously I have owned: Kawasaki ZX4-RR (Ninja anniversary edition), Honda CRF300 Rally, Honda CBR600RR 2005, Honda CBR600FW, Honda VF750F, Yamaha FJ600, Suzuki GSX750EX, Yamaha FJ750, Yamaha XJ900, Kawasaki Z750 and I passed my riding test on my Kawasaki KH250.

BMW HP4 at Madeira Drive, Brighton

Met with friend Mike for a chat at Brighton Madeira Drive seafront, he turned up on his BMW HP4 of course. Great view from our table: lots of happy thrill-seekers out in the sunshine.

Rowrah Circuit - Lakeland Circuit - Cumbria Kart Club

Rowrah circuit is a fairly flat track that is home to Cumbria Kart Racing Club. It’s said to be fairly technical as a kart track and is located in a quarry. Rowrah is in the west of Cumbria, convenient from Egremont and Whitehaven; their diary shows Supermoto events as well as karts.

GBMCC London pub social

First GBMCC London pub social of 2021, outside our usual pub in Kennington, in south-east London. At last. So good to see familiar faces at last. And a couple of new bikes too.

Penrith to Alston Road, Cumbria

Checking out by hire car the many riding possibilities accessible from my new front door and garage in Keswick, Cumbria. These roads are “Nice but deadly”. Some long and straight, routes laid by the Romans, some with plenty of curves. Huge landscapes and skyscapes: “Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Sussex anymore”. But the most enjoyable big roads, like the A686 to Alston, including the climbs to Hartside Cross (575 m.), are bedecked with speed camera signs and warnings of a high casualty rate. Bikers beware.

Orange mist coming on as I drive over Shap Fell

Now we can dream again... the orange mist came on me driving the A6 over Shap Fell, Cumbria (426 m.) in a hire car after peering through the door at the on- and off-road bikes for sale at the KTM dealer in Kendal, all in KTM’s orange livery.

En route from Marseille to the Alps

I'm riding light for a week on the mountain roads of the Alps. No laptop, although I do have my SLR camera but photos will have to wait till I'm back in Marseille..

I left Marseille for a long ride north via the Col de la Croix Haute (1179 m.) to Saint-Gervais under Mont Blanc. A bit of rain towards the end of the day which cleaned the Provence dust off my white leathers and boots but didn't soak me through.
