Sandwell is anxious to throw off its Black Country image, the civic mission statement is Great People. Great Place. Great Prospects. The air pollution has gone leaving plenty of industrial architecture to admire. My reason for alighting at Sandwell & Dudley railway station was for a meeting of the RPS Landscape Group at The Old Schoolhouse, Oldbury, the home of Smethwick Photographic Society.
Fantasy situation for a football match; not my preferred sport but this looks idyllic, playing in autumn sunshine in the heart of the Lake District. I’m sure it’s not always so. Last year’s champions, Keswick FC, playing at home and staying top of Division One of the James Cropper Westmorland League. In the distance is Skiddaw (931 m.).
It was a bright clear morning, one of the north country kind... in Penrith and Keswick.
Some textures and shapes which caught my eye this bright November day in Cumbria.
Three photos to show Marseille’s community, architecture and street art. Of course there’s much more to Marseille than this but these are key themes.
Update
Now back in London and having asked others for their comments, I am interested to see for myself how those photos look from a UK perspective and also judge how much I have achieved my aim to represent how I feel about Marseillle in just three photos. And explaining what I mean by them is a useful rigour. I’m particularly trying to show how I feel about modern Marseille and to get away from tourist or cinematic stereotypes.
