Motorbiking

"Biker" for me usually means motorbiking, though I also have a couple of mountain-bikes... see Trail Bike

My current motorbikes are a Honda CBR600RR ABS 2017 and a Kawasaki Ninja Z250SL.

Previously I have owned: Kawasaki ZX4-RR (Ninja anniversary edition), Honda CRF300 Rally, Honda CBR600RR 2005, Honda CBR600FW, Honda VF750F, Yamaha FJ600, Suzuki GSX750EX, Yamaha FJ750, Yamaha XJ900, Kawasaki Z750 and I passed my riding test on my Kawasaki KH250.

Hire GSXR on recovery truck in Eastbourne

Hire GSXR bike being recovered back to owner - battery wouldn't turn over the engine after only a coffee stop in sunny Eastbourne. Diagnosis: battery not charging. Of course the day's weather turned out to be warm sunshine.
Looks like I won't be getting to the Hastings May Day Run tomorrow as well as no ride today.
Thanks to both the recovery guys for their friendly assistance.

Great improvement in the view from my front door today!

Great to have a sportsbike parked outside my front door again. A ride back from Chichester on the rolling roads over the South Downs in West Sussex with a warm welcome at Tiffins Tea Shop in Petworth.
It’s a GSX-R600, 2012 version, Pulls hard, corners tight. Noisy. Fun. Trim: Black Shiny Glaze. Unfortunately only a hire for the May Day weekend and the 2016 GLME Ascension Camp in Salisbury.

My biker mate Tony with his new Suzuki GSX600-L4 bike and Alpinestar leathers.

Tour of the Grand Canyon of the Verdon

A satisfying ride round the Grand Canyon of the Verdon - it's the largest gorge in Europe. Lots of opportunities for sporty riding especially on the south rim road. On the north rim, the Route des Crêtes demands to be taken with care. Interesting to stop at the Balcon de la Mescla to look down at the Sentier Blanc-Martel along the river bank, that I hiked the previous day: hiking and biking are different sports and experiences; here, the more obvious pleasure is in riding the road.

Biking the Esterel massif

Skirting the northern flank of the Esterel massif is the old N7 trunk road that used to be the main route for the 38km (23 miles) from Fréjus to Cannes. Now designated DN7, the road is well made and graded, reliably wide and the curves are usefully banked. Heavy traffic is discouraged leaving sports bikes, sports cars and white vans to enjoy the ride and views. The residences (ie swanky villas) in the hills around are what you might expect up the road from Cannes: private pools of course, plus tennis courts and outdoor entertainment areas.

En route from Marseille to the Alps

I'm riding light for a week on the mountain roads of the Alps. No laptop, although I do have my SLR camera but photos will have to wait till I'm back in Marseille..

I left Marseille for a long ride north via the Col de la Croix Haute (1179 m.) to Saint-Gervais under Mont Blanc. A bit of rain towards the end of the day which cleaned the Provence dust off my white leathers and boots but didn't soak me through.
