Hike to the cirque at the end of the Valjouffrey valley in the Écrins. The village at the end of the road, Valsenestre, is surrounded by a nature reserve, Réserve Naturelle du Haut Béranger. The glaciers, waterfalls and hanging valleys are pretty but have been the source of many tragic avalanches, particularly from the Combe Oursière.
