Samson crossing Denge Beach, Dungeness - RH&DR

The Wild West in Kent - Samson hauling a pssenger train at Denge Beach, Dungeness - Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch light railway (RH&DR) - but see my following photos when the train is close and the illusion is broken.

The accurate modelling and false perspective of the 15 inch narrow gauge locomotive “Samson” and carriages add to the "Wild West" impression of the first view of the train as it chugs through the forest of uneven poles and wires of the barren miles of Denge Beach, Dungeness. Reality is restored as the train approaches, seeing the driver hunkered in the locomotive cab and the passengers in the carriages, then passing to reveal the three Dungeness nuclear power stations, reminders of the Twentieth Century.
Dungeness is the end of the lines, the terminus of both the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch light railway (RH&DR) and the Dungeness branch of the Lydd railway from Appledore in Kent, which is standard gauge and carries passengers and freight loads to Dungeness nuclear power stations.
