Blencathra viewed from Stainton

Derwent Water banks

Snapshots of my day trip to Keswick, Christmas shopping:

Smoking chimney in Keswick

Dawn viewed from the train

Blencathra, 868 m.. looming, loaded with snow, seen from 18 miles away through exceptionally clear winter air from Stainton just outside Penrith.
Derwent Water bank seen from the summit of Lattrigg, 328 m.
And the hearth-warming plume of smoke from a chimney, an increasingly rare sight.
All in a day trip starting before dawn from Euston, seeing dawn from the train hurtling through the winter frost.
