Ch. Léoville-Barton 2004

Bottle of the 2005 vintage from a château favoured for his cellar by my Father in recognition of the name Barton, the same as our neighbours’ in Trumpington, Cambridge.

Ch. Langoa Barton is a smallish vineyard, less famous than the adjacent Ch. Léoville-Barton but very similar terrain. It’s effectively the home vineyard which surrounds the house where the Barton family lived/lives. This bottle was excellent, full and rich in the flavours of dark fruits. A strong nose but local to the glass. We enjoyed it with the red and white meat of guinea-fowl, roasted whole by Terry and served with his foie-gras sauce. The bottle had a slight sediment and the cork split but the two halves pulled cleanly.
Cheers to our Trumpington neighbours the Bartons!
